Congratulations and welcome to Hummingbird Midwifery! My name is Dusty Marie. I began attending homebirths as an apprentice in 1983, and I assisted at homebirths off and on for many years. During that time, I became certified as a childbirth educator & childbirth assistant (doula), and gave birth to two of my own children at home. I've been a registered nurse since 1985, working postpartum, newborn nursery, high-risk pregnancy, labor & delivery, and home healthcare. I've been a New Mexico Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife since 2002. In 2007, I completed a year-long training in natural therapeutics and massage therapy. My personal interests include art, music, gardening, herbs, natural healing, the power of prayer, sustainability, simple living, resisting war & violence, and affirming life.

I can offer my clients the best of both worlds- a wholistic approach based on natural healing, that incorporates the use of modern medical technology as necessary and appropriate.

I bring at least one assistant to every birth, usually a student midwife or doula. Her job is to assist me and to give you lots of extra TLC! Assistants will attend some of your prenatal visits so you can get to know them before the birth.

Hilary Schlinger is a Certified Professional Midwife and Certified Nurse-Midwife. Hilary is my "back-up" midwife and is available to cover for me in the event of illness, accident, or the unusual event of two ladies in labor at the same time!
